Starter motor & dynamo
STARTER MOTOR: The original Lucas starter motor fitted to the Td & TF was a M35G type part No 25022 with a inspection band, a threaded pinion nut and a thick cast steel drive end fixing plate. These can be reconditioned but we require the customer own unit first. The current starter motor LRS101 will fit the Td & TF engine with one minor modification. The through bolts holding the starter together and fitted with their heads and the pinion end and on some cylinder blocks foul the casing inside the starter housing. The casting can be ground away in the offending area to enable the starter to fit. It will not please the concurs buff as it has no band and a pressed steel steel end plate but is is economically priced and even the surcharge is low if you do not have an original unit.
DYNAMO: Two types of LUCAS dynamo were fitted as original equipment to the TD & TF. TDs from 1950 to 1952 were fitted with a C39PV number 22257A and from 1952 and all TFs a C39PV-2 number 22268A or B was fitted. The differences were in the two end brackets, the only important one being that the later commutator and bracket had a longer bush fitted. Original dynamos can be re-conditioned but we require the customers unit first.
